I was born in 1982 in Kakamega County, Western Kenya.  I am the first-born of eight children to my mum Mrs. Jane Muteyitsi Usete and late father Mr. Alfred Usete Shikokoti. I arrived in Australia in October 2006 as a seminarian at the invitation of  the Emeritus Archbishop Barry James Hickey.
I completed my training and studies at St. Charles seminary in Guildford and at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle campus. I was ordained to the priesthood in March 2011 at St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth WA by Emeritus Archbishop Hickey.
I have served in a number of parishes as an assistant priests, chaplain to a number of Catholic colleges, a University chaplain at Murdoch University and The University of Western Australia until I was named Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Mission, Whitford Parish in January 2018. I have and continue to immensely enjoy my priestly ministry in this wonderful parish community.

Father Cyp
Father Huu Tri Nguyen (“Father Tri”)
Assistant Priest
“Give yourself to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will help you” (Ps 37:5)
I was born in October 1973. My Father, now deceased, was Nguyen Van Phung, My Mother’s name is Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc. I come from a family of six siblings: I am the youngest of three sons and I also have three sisters.
I was ordained as a CSsR Priest on 27th July 2005 in Nha Trang, Vietnam. From 2005 to 2019, I was a missionary in mainland China, serving in the underground Church while keeping a low profile to conceal my Redemptorist identity. Despite enduring officers interference and the challenges of mission, I remained committed until COVID-19.
I came to Australia and I served as a formator for Chinese seminarians in Redemptorist communities, Sydney (2020-2021) and Melbourne (2022-2024).
Currently assigned to Our Lady of the Mission Parish as Assistant Priest, I am engaging with a multicultural community and learning from Fr. Cyprian’s experience. My hobbies include swimming, hiking, yoga and music.
I am very grateful for these opportunities and trust in Divine Will, drawing inspiration from God’s love.
Thank you for your support, generosity and lovely care.
Blessings,
Tri Nguyen, CSsR
